Leigh Pfeil Goodman

Private Practice Consultant + Business Mentor

The SparkNotes Version

Hi! I’m Leigh, and I’m a private practice consultant + business mentor based in Richmond, Virginia. I have spent years finetuning my skills in private practice here in Richmond at the executive management level. When I’m not supporting private practice owners, I’m chasing 6-year old twins and one surprisingly fast toddler, sipping wine, cooking in my kitchen, and buying more houseplants than one person could ever need. I'm Buddhist. I love to coerce my husband into decorating for Halloween in August, burn incense like it’s a high paying job, + am currently making my suburban homesteading dream a reality! I use swear words like commas.

I'm a consultant + business mentor.

I teach private practice owners in the integrative + mental healthcare industries how to balance practice management + business ownership with their clinical caseloads + their lives.

The Longer Version...

My path to becoming a consultant was a bumpy one, and it's been a journey of transformation--from a workaholic with blurred boundaries to a passionate advocate for sustainable success + work-life balance.

Before becoming a mom, my life was about climbing the workforce ladder. Success meant working the hardest, staying the latest, and the perennial 'yes' person. My identity was interwoven with being the go-to person at work, always pushing for that next achievement, that next accolade. I thrived on being needed + being indispensible, guided by generational and societal narratives of commitment.

Boundaries? Those were for people who weren’t fully dedicated, I thought.

Then life took a dramatic turn--I became a mother to twins, and just 2 years later, a beautiful newborn. This new chapter brought joy, but also a stark realization: the methods that spelled success in my former life were unsustainable here. My family needed financial stability, so I channeled my skills into a side gig as a virtual assistant for medical practices, handling form development, creating SOPs, and managing specialized projects.

About a year in, however, I hit a wall. My business felt like a flop--not because it wasn't growing, but because it lacked passion. It didn't align with my traditional version of success, and it wasn't providing me with the opportunity to do what I really loved most. Moreover, my perfectionist traits didn't fade. I was still overextending myself, trying to overachieve both as a professional and as a mom... and because I come from a long line of women who "can do it myself" I wasn't great about asking for help either.

I was burned out AF. Despite running full speed, I felt I was getting nowhere in a hurry. And one day it dawned on me that being the nurturing + fun mom I wanted to be and a successful business owner weren't mutually exclusive, but achieving this balance required a fundamental change.

I learned about boundaries--the hard way. I discovered that to truly thrive, both as a parent and a professional, I had to redefine success. It wasn't about being the hardest worker or the perfect mother; it was about being present, being fulfilled, and most importantly, being kind to myself. I learned to honor my capacity, to find value in unproductivity, and to make time for self-care.

Today (as a recovering people-pleaser, recuperating perfectionist, + someone who has also been burned the f*ck out more than once in my life), I've transformed these hard-learned lessons into a mission: to empower  women in private mental health practices to build thriving, sustainable businesses. I help them balance the demands of practice management + business ownership with their clinical caseloads and their lives.

My approach isn't just about strategies and efficiencies (although systems are my freakin' jam!)--it's about reshaping how we define success in our professional and personal lives. I'm here to help you navigate these challenges not just with professional strategies, but with personal insights that come from real, lived experiences. Together, we can build a practice that supports your life, not one that consumes it.

It only takes a nanosecond for me to recall the despair + desperation + burnout that consumed me just a few years back. That visceral reaction ignites a passion for humanizing business + entrepreneurship.

So if you're ready to redefine success and find true balance, let's connect.

Are you ready to humanize your business + get back to living your life?
